The Japanese manufacturer unveiled its range of updated models for this year and the new 2016 Lexus CT four door hatchback was one of them. Lexus has stood out in the hybrid market for quite a long while. The vehicle still stands out as a luxury vehicle with conventional hybrid engine. It has remote control that enables the driver to control car through an android or iOS application in their Smartphone. The driver can start the engine remotely, lock and unlock doors as well as locate the vehicle via GPS. The 2016 Lexus CT may not be able to hold its ground against the 2016 Audi A3 Sport back e-tron which debuts this year as a plug in hybrid. It’s another competitor is the 2016 BMW 328d wagon which gives good fuel economy though more expensive.
The body of the Japanese latest hybrid hatchback comes with four doors. It comes in a variety of colors: white pearl, gray pearl, silver metallic, redline, obsidian among others. It has a 17 inch alloy wheels, headlights that come on automatically, heated mirrors that have inbuilt turn signals. The roof has sunroof incorporated. The new Lexus CT 2016 also gets a chrome Grille surround at the front.
It can accommodate more cargo than the average sedan as the back seats of the CT can be folded thus creating more cargo space at the back. It offers five seats on the inside making it ideal for a family car. It has automatic climatic control features and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. The front seats are heated. The vehicle has parking sensors both at the front and rear. It has a pre-collision system that responds by tightening the seatbelts and starting brake assist. The new Lexus CT has stability and traction control and head restraints at the front to reduce injuries. There are side airbags for the front and back seats and side curtain and front knee airbags. The interior is not as luxurious as that of the previous model 2015 Lexus CT as recycled materials replace the wood and leather.
The power train for this Japanese car disappoints highly with horsepower of only 134. It is also a 1.8 liter, four cylinder engine. The 0 to 60 time is 10.5 seconds which is significantly slow. It, however, wins in terms of fuel economy with an impressive 43 city/40 highway.
The new 2016 Lexus CT was revealed at the 2016 Chicago Auto show and will start selling at $38,000 U.S. dollars. For buyers seeking affordability, safety and value, this is the car to choose.
The Lexus CT remains one of the top selling vehicles in the U.S. in the hybrid category despite its low media profile. It tops in terms of fuel economy as well as safety which is combination that is not common in most cars.
